This is a piece of art by Allison Miller. It is a part of New Art For a New Century: Contemporary Acquisitions 2000-2010 at the Orange County Museum of Art.
This piece of art breaks all the rules of traditional art. It’s not painted by oil color using the special techniques. It doesn’t required delicate brush stroke. And it’s not even on a canvas.
This piece of work along with many others in the exhibition have proved that art in the moderen days can’t be seen as a copy of the world anymore and thus, can’t be judged by using the old criteria. There is no good art or bad art anymore. High art becomes just another form of art. So, artists can be as creative as they want without being constrainted by the old rules.
Painting, print, photography, film, song, video, or street art are considered as art. They are all equal. No form of art should be considered “higher” or “superior” to the others.
